Hello, my name is Mariah Alvarez. I am thirty one years old. I am a full-time SECA (Special Education Classroom Assistant) working for CPS (Chicago Public Schools). Before I started my CPS career, I worked for several years as a nanny for two amazing families who I still keep in touch with! I have experience with special needs and medical needs. I also have a younger sister (23 years old) who has special needs. Through caring for her is where my love and passion grew with wanting to work in special education. She is my muse and the reason why I chose working in Special Education. I have experience with all age groups! I like to dedicate my time to being of service to children/people who need help. I like to teach independence as much as possible, all while guiding and making learning fun. I love to plan play dates! Anything that involves being outside and going around the beautiful city that we live in, is a must (weather permitting of course)! I am looking to work full-time for the summer. Please feel free to reach out if you feel like I'd be a good fit to work with your family. Thank you for your time and consideration.

My name is Crystal, I am the product of a single mother so I understand how important child care can be to a parent. From watching my younger brother while my mother went to work, to co-running a day camp where I was in charge of taking care of a group of children from the ages of 4-8, then eventually being a care provider in a nursery, and a nanny to two little girls from the ages of 9-months to two years old I have always been passionate about providing exemplary child care. I love to read to/or with kids, play silly games and engage their interests because it brings them joy and that's the foundation of good child care. I am cautious of health concerns such as allergies and incredibly skilled with a first aid kit. I understand that a clean home is a happy home and I'll work to help you keep your space happy. I'm very good with pets of all kinds and do my best work under stress. Honesty is incredibly important to me especially where children are involved and it is something that you can expect from me at all times as well as responsibility and reliability.

For 12 years I had the privilege of working for wonderful families taking care of children from 3 months old to approximately 8 years old. I enjoyed playing with the kids, reading to them, going for walks, to the park, playdates, classes, museums, etc. I also cooked light meals for them and sometimes even for the family. Helped with laundry, grocery shopping, running errands, or organizing projects while kids were napping or at school. I also helped with walking the dog and making sure it had fresh water. One of the families asked me to speak Spanish to their kids and so while they were 3 months old and 2 years old I spoke mostly spanish. At the end of my time working for them the children able to understand a day to day conversation. Now they are in college and last time I saw the boy we were speaking spanish, it amazes me how much they learned!! As a mother myself I know of the importance of making sure children are in a safe and healthy environment. One passion of mine has always been things related to nutrition and healthy eating so I got a nutrition certification and worked in that field after babysitting for the Cook family (2017-2025)

Lyd L.

Hi! I’m Lyd a special education teacher in training with a background in working with children of all abilities. I currently work as a paraprofessional, supporting students with a range of needs, and I bring that same patience, understanding, and adaptability to babysitting. I have my own vehicle, am an experienced driver with a clean driving record, and am happy to provide school or activity transport. I enjoy being outdoors whether it’s kicking around a soccer ball after school or heading to a nearby park after school, but am also happy doing crafts, reading, playing board games or whatever else you know will keep your child engaged! At my job in a Chicago Public School, I have three kids I currently assist throughout the day, helping them stay engaged and stepping in to help with any big emotions or arguments. In previous childcare positions, I tutored a group of boys 8-13 at a local non-profit and provided after school pickup and care to an awesome 5th grader. I've also babysat for different families during summer break over the years, as well as been a sitter for friends kid's during an evening out. As a paraprofessional, I work with almost every age group, so I’m happy and comfortable with kids ages 1-15, and their differing needs. I can also help prepare snacks and/or meals, do basic housework and cleaning, or walking any furry friends you may have. In my free time I enjoy writing music, exploring new coffee shops, biking in and out of the city, and playing with the dogs I foster!

Experienced and Compassionate Caregiver With 23 years of hands-on childcare experience, I have cared for children of all ages, ensuring their safety, development, and well-being. My experience comes from helping my older sister with her children, babysitting my younger sister, and assisting family, friends, and their referrals with childcare needs. As a mother of two—including a child with medical and emotional needs—I have firsthand experience providing specialized care. I also worked for 2.5 years at my children's elementary school, caring for kids aged 3 to 13 from diverse backgrounds and with various needs. My passion for childcare was sparked by a difficult experience I had when my oldest child was a toddler. I trusted a caregiver, only for my child to be mistreated. That experience strengthened my commitment to providing children with the care, respect, and protection they deserve. Whether caring for a child, grandparent, or pet, I treat them as I would my own loved ones—with compassion, patience, and dedication to their well-being. I am pursuing certification in early childhood development to expand my knowledge and skills further. Additionally, I am CPR-certified and will be renewing my certification along with obtaining first aid certification in the coming weeks. I also own a LifeVac Kit for emergency preparedness. I have psoriatic arthritis, which limits my ability to be physically active with the children in my care. However, I make up for this by engaging them in creative arts and crafts projects, taking them to the library, and supervising them diligently at the park. Beyond childcare, I have experience working with the geriatric community. I have worked in various roles at skilled nursing facilities, always focusing on engaging with residents—whether through activities, small favors, or simply being there to listen. Additionally, I have experience in dog care, ensuring pets receive the attention, exercise, and companionship they need. My goal is to provide a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment where those in my care feel supported, valued, and protected. Yes, I used ChatGPT to help write this bio, with all my own personal experiences—just so it could be more well-written and articulated.
