I am the oldest of three children; my sister is 20 and my brother is 6. Being the oldest child came with automatic responsibility for me. I have an 8 and 12 year age gap with my siblings, so that has contributed to my experience with babies, toddlers, and now teenagers. Besides my experience with my own family, I also gained lots of experience during college when I worked with a couple other families as a child care provider. I worked with a family with two little boys (ages 3 and 5 when I was hired) for about three years. They became like my “surrogate family” while I was away from my own family during college. I also began occasionally working for a family with two little girls, ages 3 and 1.5. Working with those two families gave me experience working with both younger boys and girls in a wide range of Read more ages.  Aside from working with these families, I have also volunteered at schools as a mentor and tutor with a diverse group of children, ranging from 4- 12 years old.  I also recently worked at the local swimming pool as a swimming instructor with kids ranging from 3-15 years of age. After I graduated from college, I moved to Bretagne, France to work as an Au Pair with a French family for a year. They had two kids, a girl age 5, and a baby boy 9 months old when I arrived. I currently work for a non-profit before school program at an elementary school in Evanston. During the school year, I lead a program that provides additional academic for students K-5. I absolutely love what I do! As you can see, I have a lot of experience caring for children of all ages and diverse cultures.
