I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old. I always wanted to be a teacher, particularly a special education teacher. After being at college for a year, I realized that I particularly wanted to work with small groups of children rather than full classes to make the largest impact on them. Though I changed my major, I never lost the eagerness to want to watch and help children develop. I currently work full time at a counseling office in Champaign Monday through Friday 8:30 to 5:00. Any time that I am not at work, I would be available to babysit. I have watched children from the ages of 1 week to 15 years old. I believe that structure, stability and guidance are key to development.
