Hi, my name is Sofia Rivera, I am 19 years old and a sophomore at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. I am majoring in Anthropology as well as double minoring in Latino/a Studies and Sociology: Law and Society which is all concentrated in the study of human development/ behavior. I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old and love volunteering at Brokaw Early Learning Center in Oswego and have been since I was in middle school. I am fluent in Spanish and if interested I can integrate Spanish into the learning and caring experience. I love children of all ages and have a passion to help others grow through creative play. We had Sofia as our summer nanny for our then 6 month old (now almost 1yr old!) and she was absolutely amazing. She always arrived at least 10 minutes early every morning, and is very loving, caring and gentle with my baby. She has fantastic communication and is always willing to go above and beyond and offer help in areas I didn't even think of! Like when I had an event for work on a friday night and she offered stay with our child, or when we went out of town and she made herself available to tend to our house and dogs. This was our first time ever not putting our own child to bed and we received picture updates and communication throughout the night. Sofia might be the only person I feel comfortable enough to put my baby down for the night - including our own family! We are so lucky to have found her and now have her as a part of our family.
