Thank you for viewing my profile.. I am Lindsay, a college graduate, divorced, mother of four. Caring for children has always come natural to me. Innate love, compassion and patience in caregiving has taught me to teach & guide children in a gentle way. I was an attachment parent (baby wearing, bonded, close contact) with all four of my own children. I allow the child take the lead for creativity and exploration of their environment, with appropriate boundaries for safety and rules of the home. Respect, communication and understanding are very important to me in caregiver- parent dynamic, as well as with the children. I am available Monday, Friday and weekends, hours as needed. I want your children to be as comfortable as possible with me while you are gone. I prefer to meet in person once before beginning babysitting. To add, I have my bachelor's of science in elementary education from Northern Illinois University. I was certified in CPR for infants and children on 9/13/2023. Because I have worked in day care facilities, I have my fingerprints on file for background checks in the state of Illinois. I also have a background check on file. In my experience, I have worked in three day care facilities, mainly infant and toddler rooms, from 1998 until 2003 and again short term in 2017 and 2023. I also did some short-term nannying for three families during my college years. After college, I taught a 4-year-old preschool class at Kindercare Learning Center, from 2003 to 2005. When my son was born, in May of 2005, I started to nanny full time. Since then, I have worked as a nanny, as a home daycare provider and babysitting, for 21 different families to present day.

I have well over 25 years of professional Nanny/House Managing/Personal Assistant experience, in addition a to Pre-School teaching and Pre-School swim instruction background. I also have In-Home Day Care experience at my Westchester residence. I have a Child Development/Psychology background. I have an extensive medical background/CPR trained and can handle children with special needs. Kids respond to me because I am patient, outgoing, fun-loving and try to relate to them at their level. I also try to make every day a fun learning experience. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty. In the summer you can find me on the ground catching insects, teaching the children how to fish, or catching bullfrogs/ turtles to study (catch and release). I am a big nature-lover. I am an avid fisher-woman, excellent swimmer and horseback-rider. My hobby is training/entering my German Shepherd Dogs in Obedience/Conformation Competition). My previous 14 year old female Lexxi, was a UKC Champion, who held 5 titles and 44 awards. She also did therapy work. I’ve also owned cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and a cockatiel named SpongeBob! Although I am no "spring chicken" so to speak, don’t let my age deter you. I am high energy and fit, working 50-60 hours a week caring for children. On the weekends, when I’m not working, you’ll find me running around the dog show ring, or practicing agility. My current 7 month old Kasha, is working on her AKC obedience titles. She has some big paws to fill! I have a Law Enforcement/Animal Control Officer, a Medical/ Medical Computer Systems background and have also worked in the Corporate world. All of those jobs I really enjoyed. But I’m completely happy and comfortable in a private/domestic setting taking care of children and managing a household. I excel at ensuring that the household is running smoothly, and I like putting my excellent organizational skills to work. It is a very gratifying experience for me. To be successful, there needs to be teamwork and open communication. I’m a firm believer in consistency and structure...  I’m professional, comical, considerate of others, a bit of a neat freak and a little bit of a workaholic; and 100% dependable! I am also a parent, although my daughter is much, much older. I’m a long time Sittercity member. I recently left my Nanny position of over 8 years in River Forest. Thank you for your time. I am currently a grad student for my Master's in Finance and starting a Doctoral program soon. I have very good time management skills. I enjoy spending time with kids whether it’s entertainment or learning. I believe the impact you have on a child’s life lasts forever. I played college basketball at Triton as well as experienced in other sports (volleyball, softball). I have experience with children of all ages from newborn to teens.
