Hello! My name is Katie Kennedy. I am born and raised in Chicago, and currently live and go to school in Chicago. I’m studying Occupational Therapy at Dominican University. I’m an outgoing, fun, kind, and understanding person. I have been working with children for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a big Irish family, I would help with my two younger sisters and when our family would get together being one of the eldest cousins, my job was to help take care of the little cousins. In sixth grade I became a mommies helper, then by eight grade I was a full-fledged babysitter. At the beginning of my high school career, I would mainly babysit on the weekends but be a full time nanny in the summers. I have worked with children as young as 3 weeks old, and kids as old as 16. I'm certified in Read more CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, and educated on the basics of a first aid kit from being a life guard for several years. In total, I have 15 years of professional child care. I also cook and I keep the space I work in clean and tidy. In terms of cooking I can cook almost anything. I love to do fun activities with the kids that I work with! I try to get the kids I watch outside and away from the screens that our world is so consumed by as much as possible. I believe in having kids practice being creative and imaginative while playing. Being physically fit and eating healthy is a big part of my life, so I have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to having kids eat their fruit and veggies. I love animals, and can also pet sit. Working with children is something I really enjoy because I hope to one day open my own practice and work with children.
