Being one of the oldest of 26 grandchildren, I have always enjoyed being around children. It has helped to show me the career path that I want to pursue. In December I graduated with a degree in elementary and early childhood education. I have been working with children since the age of 10 and by the time I was 13 I was watching four boys under the age of 8, one being an infant and another only 1 year old. This is when I really realized my passion for working with kids. Within the past year I have been able to work with several families that had different needs. During the 2013-2014 school year I worked with two different families that needed their kids picked up from school (on different days) and brought to different after school activities. Throughout the experience of being a nanny for both of these families Read more I learned so much about how different kids have different needs and loved finding out what those needs were. Both families asked me to pick them up from school and drive them places they needed to be, making sure they were able to finish their homework before their parents got home as well as making dinner for the family. What I found out about the families after working for them is that I truly enjoyed getting to know each and every one of those kids. Its amazing to me how kids can learn to trust in someone who shows that they are always going to be there for them. That is something I hope to show all children that I will work with in the future, I care for them and will always be there for them. To me it is important for each child to feel appreciated and loved for who they are. I have also worked with younger children and have been certified in CPR and First Aid. I worked at a summer camp for preschool aged children for the past 6 years, where we encourage both educational and social interactions with other children in the same age group.
