Why do you love being a sitter? I’ve always loved being around children. They’re curious, funny and honest, and every day with them is different. I’m originally from England and now live in Springfield, so I’m a long way from my niece and miss her a lot. Caring for other families’ little ones fills that gap for me, and I put real care into it. I like being someone kids trust and look forward to seeing, and someone parents can rely on completely. For me it’s more than a job. I enjoy helping children feel safe, happy and confident, and making each day fun along the way. What experience do you have? I’ve cared for children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers, in England, Italy and the US: Live-in au pair, Italy (2022): Six months caring full time for 8-year-old boy-and-girl twins, managing daily routines, school days and activities. Read more Nanny, Holland, Michigan (2023): While studying abroad, I cared for my professor’s 6-month-old and 4-year-old. Regular babysitter, Liverpool (2022–2024): Cared for a family of three during my undergraduate degree: two boys aged 4 and 7, and a newborn girl from 8 weeks old. Babysitter, Birmingham: One-off and occasional jobs for local families after graduating, before I moved to Springfield. Teaching and tutoring: Student teaching placements in elementary and high schools in the UK and US, plus tutoring. I’m comfortable with infant care (feeding, naps, soothing), toddler routines, school-age homework and activities, and caring for siblings and twins at the same time. What skills and training do you have? Master’s in Education Bachelor’s in Creative Writing and Education Studies First aid and CPR trained (completed while working as a Wellbeing Assistant at my university) Classroom experience in the UK and US, so I can help with homework, reading and learning through play Creative activities: I write children’s books and do community theatre (most recently HCFTA’s Hairspray), so arts and crafts, storytelling, singing and imaginative play are things I genuinely love Reliable, organized and calm under pressure. I also work part time for a local company, and I’m used to balancing schedules and responsibilities.
