Hello! My name is Savannah McKee, and I am a twenty-year-old sophomore nursing student at Elmhurst College. I have a passion for taking care of others, especially children! In fact, I am determined to work in a Pediatrics unit once I enter the healthcare field. Not only do I have a strong interest in healthcare, but I also have a huge love for art. I have studied drawing, painting of all sorts, ceramics, as well as photography. I am always searching for fun and innovative art projects--and someone to share my ideas with! This past year, I decided to combine my love of art with my desire to work with children by instructing an art class for an "afters" program at an elementary school in West Chicago. Every Wednesday I would prepare a lesson or project for 60 students ranging from first to fifth grade. Although challenging, that experience has Read more truly been a blessing! I have learned so many valuable skills such as communicating effectively with children and guiding and directing behavior. As well as instructing an children's art class, I have also worked with children through volunteering at the DuPage Children's Museum. While there, I had the wonderful opportunity to interact with children in a variety of ways. The most exciting opportunity was working with children in order to get them engaged in the learning opportunities the museum has to offer. And aside from school, art, and volunteering, I am an avid animal lover and enjoy spending time outside. I have owned a variety of animals: bunnies, dogs, hamsters, and even a parrotlet! So it is safe to say that I am very comfortable with all sorts of pets. Although I have not done any "babysitting" in the past, I am certainly qualified to do so. With my experience in nursing, my CPR certification, as well as experience with children through teaching and volunteering, I am confident that I would do a wonderful job babysitting!
