I began working with children at age 12 at the Michigan Shores Club Summer Camp, teaching swimming. This continued for four summers at which point I diverted my childcare to regular nannying for several families of various sizes and ages throughout high school. This included taking kids to museums, creating several science-based projects, and encouraging creativity through art. Once I left the Chicagoland area for university, I wanted to continue my position as a role model and not only tutored chemistry, but also was a peer counselor for the Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Science for three years. This entailed assuring freshmen parents that their child would have a stimulating and worthwhile time at University of Miami; but more importantly, peer counselors provided a regular source of comfort and knowledge for these incoming freshmen through scholarly advice and awareness of extracurricular activities that helped encourage community in a school Read more of 10,000 students. In the Fall of 2018, I will be teaching bassoon private lessons to middle school and high school students in the Houston area as a part-time job, concurrently with my Masters degree studies.
