Hello! My name is Haley Plothow and I just began my senior year at Indiana University. I am originally from Valparaiso, IN, but am in Bloomington for the school year. I previously worked as a nanny for 3 years for a Valparaiso family with three kids. They have two girls (ages 13 and 10) and a boy (age 6). I cared for these children over the entirety of three summers, from 2013-2015. I was responsible for transporting the children to and from various places and events, feeding them, helping them with school related work, keeping the house clean and organized, and keeping them entertained throught the day. They were an absolutely amazing family, and I am so thankful to have gotten the opportunity to get to know each of them. I could not have asked for a better family to work for, and I grew to love them all. However, I still keep in touch with the family and appreciate the experience I was able to have. I also have experience caring for younger children, infant-toddler. I began watching a family friend's daughter when she was 5 months, and they continue to use me as a sitter whenever I am in town. She is now 2 and a half years old. From a very young age, I have always had a way with kids. I come from a big family, and have three little sisters of my own. Since I can remember, I have always had a way with communicating and understanding children. As a big sister myself, I know how to watch over young children and keep them safe. Coming from a family of all girls, I am an expert at dealing with sisters. Trust me, I've seen and delt with it all; Nothing surprises me anymore :) I am currently studying Exercise Science with a future in Physical Therapy. Because of my love for children, I plan to specialize in Pediatrics. I am also a Member of the Marketing Committee for Indiana University Dance Marathon benefiting Riley Children's Hospital. Each year we hold a 36 hour marathon where we invite all current/past patients of Riley Hospital and raise money for the hospital. Last year we raised over $3.8 million for the kids. I have danced in this marathon for 3 years, and IUDM is the largest student-run organization at IU. It is so amazing to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. Children really do have a special place in my heart.
