My name is Angel, and I am a Junior at Indiana University studying Recreational Therapy. I spent the past 3 months this summer at True Friends camp in Minnesota working as a camp counselor for child and adult campers with various disabilities. I served as a caregiver for a group of 6 to 10 campers for each week and went with campers to many camp activities, helped them at meal times, and helped with personal cares like getting dressed and ready, bathing. and using the restroom. It was truly my most productive and fulfilling summer ever and such an amazing experience. It reassured me that I want to be a recreational therapist in the future. I enjoy working with this population of people because I learn so much and see just how much a disability can vary from one person to the next. I gained so much experience this summer Read more and worked with so many different individuals, young and old. I also worked as a tutor at a middle school for a year, so if your child needs homework help I can do that. I would love to help you out!
