I have always enjoyed being around children and caring for them. I now have a three year old little girl and have developed an even greater understanding for the needs of a toddler. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to engage her in learning activities. I have read several parenting books and they have proved to be extremely valuable! I have been able to travel inside the mind of a toddler and learn the best methods for interacting with this unique little demographic. I believe it is my responsibility as a caregiver and a parent to take the opportunity when children are of this age to prepare them for their future in the world. I take great pride and pleasure in the role I play in their lives. I currently have five children that I care for on a part time basis in my home. I have Read more created a fun and safe environment for the children and regularly engage with them doing a number of different crafts and activities that keeps the children entertained while learning at the same time. I do have a TV that I bring out for the children at times but this is very limited. I believe young children thrive best when kept on a schedule for meal times, nap time and play times. I like to take them outside to play when weather permits and there is a small playground in the apartment complex where I live that is the perfect size for toddlers. I am CPR certified for babies and infants and this training was actually put to use when I had to perform CPR on my own daughter at the age of about 18 months. She had suffered a seizure brought on by a fever and stopped breathing. I was working in a daycare at the time and had her brought to me in a panic by one of the her teachers. Needless to say it was the absolute scariest moment of my life but the training I had received paid off. I was able to get her to start breathing again on her own while the ambulance was arriving. Obviously I hope to never have to do this again on ANY child but I am confident that if your child was in any danger, I would be able to react quickly and appropriately.
