Hi, I'm Joyce, and I love children! They are precious gifts from heaven, and I am privileged to have 6 of my own grandchildren-- straight from heaven :) ! Though I have maybe 3 to 4 yrs give or take of paid time with children, I've been working with them since I was a teen- taught Sunday school, day camps, overnight camps, VBS supervised a summer day camp, have taught afterschool classes in Hammond and Crown Point, and have homeschooled each of my children at some point. I love teaching, have tutored in reading, love foundational math and helping children to actually understand what they're doing (I even love fractions!) So if your child needs homework help or tutoring, helping would be my pleasure. I enjoy playing outdoors with children, and sometimes have found myself playing with the kids at the park when we have taken the grandkids. At one Read more point, I would hang out with the neighborhood kids and play group games with them. I have a desire to bring back the old school games we used to play-- jump rope, four square, but hey- just a simple game of "catch" even goes a long way. Or the floor is lava (of course!) ! I can cook, do minimal cleaning (minimal if I'm there to be with the kiddos), and love fur babies as long as they are well-natured (cats? ok. love 'em any way they come!) Aside from being able to help with homework and academics- add homeschooling in there-- I can also teach basic Spanish, do projects with the children, come over just to help them assemble that STEM kit they've had sitting in the closet, etc. I'm available to assist musically as I sing, create songs, play piano and alto recorder some, and have taught choir. I can teach beginner piano, recorder or supervise/ coach them in their practice (of any instrument). (or hey--we can just do freeze dance, or sing some karaoke- that's music too!) I'm kind, can be a bit zany at times, but I know how to adjust and flow with the personality of the child. I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet your child or children. :)
