Meet Kelly

Working with kids is my passion! I love them for their enthusiasm, creativity, and joy in life. They help me remember to stay curious and try our hardest to be good people. I am the second oldest of 7 children, so I have had to change many diapers in my life lol. I also have 9 nieces and nephews. I gained custody of 3 teens and have raised them to adulthood. Actual paid work has been through Youth Link in Southern Indiana. I currently work with 40 kindergarten - 1st grade kiddos. What sets me apart is that I am hugely creative and am experienced in many art and craft mediums. One of the main requirements in my job right now is to schedule enrichment and activities with the kids each day of the week. This allows me to give kids the space they need to learn autonomy and self regulation, but also learn important rules, empathy, and consequences for their actions. I have worked also with many children with ADHD and Autism at Youth Link, and have learned that each child, neuro divergent or not, needs a unique approach to love and care. I am a great cook and even worked as a cook professionally for 1 year at Roosters. Not exactly fine dining, but my home cooking is much better than that. I was vegetarian for 6 years, so I also know how to cook vegan, gluten free, Whole 30, etc., meals. So, I guess that's what sets me apart! I actually do care. I have loved every kid I have had the privilege to work with.
