My name is Calla Owen. I am a music teacher from Wichita. I have a lot of experience with kids! I just finished my first year of teaching at Colvin Elementary/Stanley Elementary in Wichita Public Schools. I also was one of 3 teachers for an after school arts/homework help program for WPS. For the past 4 years, I have been head counselor of Wichita State Children's Choir camp, and I taught beginning voice/piano lessons plus the occasional preschool music class at a private studio up until we moved in July. I have been casually babysitting for friends and family for about 10 years, including experience with babies and toddlers (those are my favorites). I was even a nanny for 3 kids the summer after my freshman year of college. :-) I graduated from Wichita State University in May 2013, following my student teaching. I majored in Prek-12 Music Education, and Read more special music education. I am currently finishing my endorsement for ESOL. I also have a food handler's license, and have had various basic first aid required for previous jobs. I am completely comfortable preparing meals, cleaning house, and minding after pets. I would describe myself as a fun and caring, but firm child care provider. I love to play with kids, and find fun things to do with them. I like playing outside, playing with toys and games, doing arts &crafts/coloring, listening to music, baking treats, popping popcorn/watching movies. Sometimes, I make special arrangements to go to the park, to the movies, or to a special museum exhibit. I like reading with kids, and can provide homework help! I prefer to be actively involved with the children, and try to save any house cleaning for nap time/bed time. My availability is almost completely open!
