My name is Rachel Brokaw and I am a Junior Elementary Major at Emporia State University. I have wanted to be a teacher since the second grade. I come from a large family of seven and have grown up traveling the states with my family. As for my experience with children, I have worked with children all of my life. I have a younger half sister that is 12 years old and a half brother that is 10. I tutored a junior high student my senior year of high school and also helped to teach young children about cheerleading throughout my high school career. Along with my studies at Emporia State we work with children daily. The main education building on campus is right next to the on campus day care center and we will often times go over there to help them with the children, read to them, or Read more other activities. During the summer of 2014 I was a camp counselor at an overnight camp in Pennsylvania for three months, where I was responsible for twelve young girls 24 hours of the day. The girls in my cabin were nine and ten years old. I would help them get up in the morning, coach them in sports, help with water activities at the pool, get them to bed, and helped them with many more things. These are a few of the big experiences that I have had working with children.
