Hello :) ⁣ ⁣ My name is Ma'Kayla & I've basically been a babysitter my entire life. Growing up, I was the oldest grandchild in my close-knit family, so I spent a lot of time looking after my younger siblings, cousins, and even my mother’s friends’ children at times. Most of that was unpaid until I got to high school, where I got my first paid babysitting jobs! I got to babysit for two different families. I babysat one elementary-aged boy (and his pet dog) and two preschool-aged boys! I had a great experience with both families!⁣ ⁣ When I went to college, I started pursuing a degree in elementary education, but I ended up changing my major to English at the end of my sophomore year. Although I chose a different major, My desire to work with children didn’t change. I spent the summers between semesters working as a Read more missionary for a team that traveled to struggling churches each week and helped them with Vacation Bible School! Some churches wanted us to plan, organize, or even promote to different degrees, but all of them required us to work with the children. We planned and executed outdoor activities, indoor bible studies, taught the kids dances, and so much more! Similarly, I also got to serve a lot with my church’s children’s/youth ministries throughout the years. I helped with different events, assisted in some classes, and during my senior year, I got to lead my own Sunday School class (which consisted of 6-8 elementary-aged children that I managed ALONE!) ⁣ ⁣ During my senior year, I also interned at the local middle school’s library! Outside of my experience working directly with children For three academic years, I worked as a Resident’s Assistant in my college dorms (College students aren’t much different from children sometimes, haha). That job really honed my professional and people skills. We were trained to deal with conflict, small crises, and even some emergencies.⁣ ⁣ In May 2020, I graduated with my bachelor’s in English and now stay at home with my parents. I started serving at children’s church locally and I am just looking for some extra income until I start school again in the fall!
