I currently work as a paraprofessional at LABBB Collaborative in a special education classroom at Lexington High School. I work with students with varying needs and abilities, including ASD, Down syndrome, and varying physical or intellectual disabilities. At LABBB, we work to provide the safest and most efficient ways to help students to adapt and succeed as individuals in the world. I also was a residential counselor at the Merrimack Center JRI, an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) for youth with mental health diagnoses and intellectual disabilities. In my role as a residential counselor, I was responsible for supervising all resident activities including ADLs, IADLs, group therapy, school participation, and leisure. I utilized de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care each day in order to prevent the use of manual restraint. This position has helped me to develop improved time management skills, as well as communication skills with coworkers and supervisors. In Read more addition to my skills and experience, it is important to note that I am a native Spanish speaker who is also fluent in English. This allows me to work with a diverse population of students while being culturally sensitive and mindful of their backgrounds. I am CPR/AED certified as well as vaccinated against COVID-19.
