Hello! My name is Madison and I started babysitting when I was 10 or 11 years old. Now that I am 22 years old, that leaves me with over a decade of experience. I started babysitting for neighbors and I have a genuine love for it. When I was 12, one family took me on a trip with them to San Francisco to babysit their daughter throughout the trip. I watched over their daughter when her parents would go out at night and I mainly entertained her so they could enjoy each other more fully during the day as well. My mom teaches from home and I often babysit her students as well. They always ask for me back because I really bond with the kids, getting involved in their interests. I've never put the television on unless the parent specifically asks me to do so. We usually spend our Read more time making art, playing games, or simply talking. I have developed different methods for getting children to bed at the time requested. When I see these children again they always come running to me to give me a hug and ask when I will babysit again. My first few jobs always involved working with younger children. I tutored at my elementary school starting when I was in 6th grade and continued until I graduated from high school. For 7 years I was committed to working with students from kindergarten through 6th grade. In high school during the summers I volunteered at a summer camp called Shake-a-Leg Miami. This adaptive water sports program reaches out to the community, especially those with varying disabilities and economic challenges. I taught windsurfing and kayaking and every day was about lifting kids up through positive reinforcement of their strengths and by providing an inclusive environment. Right now I am currently a senior at Northeastern University and will be available until graduation in May of 2017. I am majoring in Psychology and minoring in Human Services as well as Social Entrepreneurship. I have had many internships including middle school teacher, working in a group home, developing an awareness-raising curriculum in India, and most recently as a recruiting coordinator in human resources. What they all have in common is working with people. Naturally I relate to people from any walk of life and I am quite adaptable.
