I began working with children in high school when I volunteered from 2009 to 2012 as a Sunday school teacher. My main responsibilities during this time were helping 1st and 2nd graders with their snack time and daily crafts. Once in college I joined Boston University’s Initiative for Literacy Development as a tutor for underserved elementary school students. I worked both in school and after school for two years. In school, I assisted the teachers and worked one-on-one with a child or small group of children having difficulty with the subject. After school, three other tutors and I facilitated our program to encourage literacy development. We taught and rehearsed plays, promoted relevant reading tactics, played literacy-based games, and provided homework help. For two summers I was also a nanny for a 6 year old girl and 9 year old boy in Brookline. My responsibilities included light housekeeping/cooking and keeping the Read more children busy with various activities including swimming, tennis, art, and games. Lastly, I've acted as an occasional babysitter for a 5 year old girl, a 10 month old baby boy, an 8 year old boy and 11 year old girl, and two boys ages 3 and 6. Overall, I am a lighthearted, kind, patient individual whom you can trust to keep your children happy and safe!
