Meet Michelle

Ever since I was in the 9th grade I have been involved with helping and caring for children. My uncle is a head track/cross country coach for junior high and high school, so I have coached/ran with the JH & HS kids. My mom is an elementary K-2 reading specialist. Beginning when I was 15 years old I would go into my mom's school and help out where I was needed. Mainly I would help kids read and solve problems. The summers of 2013 and 2014 I babysat two boys, ages 5 and 11. During college I did a lot of volunteer work with all age groups. I volunteered in the hospital NICU where I provided sensory stimulation to the babies, fed the babies, and helped the nurses around the NICU. I volunteered in the children's hospital during Halloween by dressing up and passing out candy. I volunteered at an Read more after school program for kids between the ages of 4-17. I mentored two, 2nd grade girls during the school year. Being on the University of Kentucky track and field team, I was asked to come and talk to/participate with a local running club for 3rd graders. I have recently graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition. I have job shadowed in many hospital settings, and my favorite job shadowing experience was in the pediatric hospital. I love working with kids. I believe that kids give you a chance to be a better person. They put so much hope and trust in you and you do all that you can to not let them down. Kids can always put a smile on my face with their innocence and hunger to learn new things. I love knowing I’ve done all that I can do help a child grow. Down the road I plan on going back to school for my Masters in Nursing.. I am currently a certified nurse aide and have obtained BLS certification. Therefore, I have been trained in giving patient care, which would come in handy as a caregiver. I believe that my energy, enthusiasm, patience, and dependability are the things that would make me a good caregiver. I am currently a nanny/mother’s helper for a 3 year old boy and his mother in Brookline.
