Hi! My name is Ariel. I just graduated from a masters program in Clinical Social Work from Boston College this May. I work with a BPS alternative middle school and love playing with kids. My summers, though are off, and I'd love to keep working with kids on a more flexible basis. For a bit of my background: I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY. I have worked with children of various ages in a variety of settings. I have 10+ years of babysitting experience. I have worked as a counselor and sailing instructor in Rhode Island for 2 years, as an expressive arts teacher in the St. Louis Childrens' hospital for 2 years, as an after school counselor for 4 years (6 months in South Africa, 3.5 years in Brooklyn). I also worked as a teacher in Colombia for 1 year, teaching elementary students English. Because of my time In Colombia, Read more I now speak Spanish. In addition to speaking Spanish, I am passionate about: sailing, painting and drawing, and learning from people. I am considered a curious, engaged and fun person. I love working with children. I think they have an open ability to play and be inquisitive and silly and creative in a way I relate to and enjoy being around. I also think it's incredibly rewarding to connect to children and serve as a potential role-model. One final personal tidbit: I LOVE to travel. I studied in Cape Town, South Africa, for six months (I worked with a children's home, leading a group of six-year-olds in an after-school english program.) While in South Africa I traveled to Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. I also spent 9.5 months traveling South America, working and backpacking through Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil. I'm very much looking forward to hearing from you!
