Hello! I’m Sarah, a senior at Smith College studying Environmental Geosciences with a minor in Education and Child Study. I'm currently conducting coastal research at the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, studying how storms and sea level rise affect our coastlines. My background in science education has taught me how to explain complex concepts in kid-friendly ways and keep children engaged with hands-on activities. I have over six years of experience working with children ages 3-18 in educational and residential settings. I've worked as a camp counselor providing 24/7 care for girls ages 11-13 on a remote island, supported high school students with academics and daily routines at a pre-college program, and currently teach Earth science to 3rd graders. I'm also an academic advisor at Smith College with training in conflict resolution and Youth Mental Health First Aid certification. Outside of academics, I've been dancing for over 15 years Read more in ballet, contemporary, and modern styles, and I taught weekly dance classes for kids ages 4-teen at my home studio for several years. I currently perform with Smith's Dance Department in student and faculty-choreographed works. I'm comfortable with meal prep, homework help, and maintaining routines around the house. My dance background has taught me patience, creativity, and how to work with kids who have different comfort levels and abilities.
