Hi! My name is Alynah, and I’m a 4th-year medical student. I recently moved to Boston to work at Harvard/BIDMC on a research fellowship prior to graduating with my MD. I am well-trained to handle various situations and am certified in BLS, CPR, and First Aid. As the oldest of four children and 26 grandchildren, I have spent much of my life watching, feeding, cleaning up after, playing with, and teaching kids of all ages. I was employed for one year in high school, caring for a 4-year-old and a 13-month-old toddler. Since then, I have held several jobs, including working with children of all ages, and volunteering at daycares in my free time during my undergraduate studies. Additionally, during undergrad, I spent two years working with individuals with disabilities on college-level coursework, job applications, and social activities. I genuinely enjoy spending time with young people from all backgrounds. Being away from home makes me miss connecting with children, so hanging out with your kiddos in my free time would help Boston feel more like home. I have a car and am willing to drop off and pick up kids from extracurricular activities, help with homework, cook meals, run small errands, and more, as long as the tasks are clearly defined and agreed upon beforehand. I really enjoy kids! They are naturally authentic and interested in the world. I studied Math and Education in college, and got teaching experience in classrooms ranging from kindergarten to high school. I got certified to teach secondary math, and went on to do a year of Americorps service after college. I moved to Boston in 2007 and began babysitting until I figured out what was next. I enjoyed what I was doing so much that I went on to become a full time nanny the following year. I worked for three years for a family with three children- ages 2, 5, and 7 when I started. After the youngest was off to kindergarten, I took a new position, a nanny share caring for two 2-year old girls. I’ve also babysat for multiple families over the years ranging from overnights with infant twins to school vacation help for 12-year olds. I taught the preschool class at my church for 5 years as well. In October 2012, I had a daughter of my own! I began bringing her along to babysitting/ nanny positions, which worked out quite well. I worked as an assistant in a combined Pre-K/Kindergarten class for four years before becoming the lead teacher of a separate Pre-K class.
