Ever since high school, I have been passionate about youth work. I began babysitting when I was 13 and continue to work with young demographics in different capacities. In college, I coordinated tutors at an elementary school and oversaw volunteers at an afterschool program. For two consecutive summers towards the end of my undergraduate studies, I interned at an orphanage in Kaberamaido, Uganda - which inspired me to apply to the Peace Corps. From November 2012 until January 2015, I lived and worked in Eastern Uganda promoting literacy initiatives in the region, teaching phonemic awareness to lower-elementary school pupils, and developing youth-development programs at the school-level. I am firm believer that every child deserves a fostering environment in which to explore their interests, develop a positive sense of self, and dare to dream.
