Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved interacting with babies and young children. I have been caring for children for nearly 16 years. I began babysitting at age 11, and frequently babysat all the way through college. I began working as a preschool teacher in 2011, and worked at that school for 4.5 years. Most recently, I have worked as a nanny for a lovely family for nearly 2 years. Sadly, the time has come for me to transition out of this role and search for a new family in need of my services. I believe that the business of childhood is play. I love imaginative games, active outdoor play, cooking wholesome meals and yummy treats, and especially arts and crafts. I enjoy taking children on outings and exploring the city and the world around them. I like to have some structure and routine, so that days Read more are ordered and well spent. I also believe in allowing time for hands on learning, messy art, creative play, and active games. I do not feel that there is space in a young child's day for excessive amounts of screen time while I am with them. I believe that open communication with parents is essential, so that I can be sure that I am partnering with them in the way that is consistent with their parenting style, and meets the needs of their individual children. I am CPR and First Aid certified. Comfortable working with children of all ages and children with special needs. I have a chronic migraine condition that requires the assistance of a medical alert service dog. Trudy is a 100 Lb Female Great Pyrenees. She adores children and other animals, and is very calm while she is working. She can sense an oncoming migraine before they happen. This superpower allows me to take my rescue medication and stop a migraine before it hits! She is highly trained; this includes all of her basic obedience skills, housebreaking, manners, and service tasks. Trudy helps me be a better caregiver by keeping me pain free. With her by my side, I am able to live an active, normal life because I avoid my migraines. She takes her work very seriously and together we make the ultimate team. We are looking for a dog friendly family who is able to accommodate us. We are happy to work with children of any age, and we love working with children who have special needs.
