Peace Families! Along my life’s journey I’ve come to learn that I am a natural born nurturer. At 30 years of age I am the eldest daughter in a family of 7 and come from generations of educators (both my mother and maternal grandmother are/were teachers). As early as middle school I knew the 2 things I wanted to be most in life: a mother and a teacher - just like both my mommy and grandma (they were both school teachers, my mother still is.) My first job at 15 was a summer camp counselor where I got to work around and with children. Coming from a big family I began babysitting and meal prep as early as 10 years old caring for my younger siblings and cousins on weeknights and some weekends. I went on to graduate undergrad in 2014 earning a BS in Business Administration with plans to Read more become an entrepreneur and be able to work for myself (which is around the time I began nannying and began to discover my passion). I ended up getting certified to teach preschool and landed my dream role at a prestigious private school where I gained so much more experience in childcare from the educational aspect compared to babysitting. Now that I’m a mother I’m more than qualified to provide my genuine care for families in greater capacities than I ever have before. I’m now a plant based, exclusively breastfeeding stay at home to an 11 month old pure bundle of joy (who’s also a vegetarian) where I keep myself plenty busy as a homemaker and first time mom. However I also spend my time as a natural skin care artisan and raw juicer for my business Sekherta’s Herbals. In the near future I plan on pursuing my BSN to one day become a neonatal nurse or nurse midwife (I’m still undecided lol). In order to make a sincere attempt for you to (virtually) get to know me better and to leave a lasting first impression I wanted to write more here than my certifications and hours of availability. Lastly I would like to share with you the most challenging and rewarding parts about being a childcare provider to me. The most challenging part is becoming attached to the children you care for and their parents no longer needing your care (or them outgrowing care). But the most rewarding part is the liberating work environment and day to day schedule. I’ll take a playground or a library trip over being stuck in a boring office any day. If you’ve read this far I hope that I’m a good fit for your family. Please feel free to ask me any questions and I hope to see you soon!
