Throughout college and my current career as a middle school language arts teacher I have taken part-time positions as a nanny over my summers. I have been responsible for children as young as 6 months through age 12. I teach 6th grade Language Arts where I have 28-32 students in each class. Each class includes students with special needs. In many cases I teach and support students who are learning disabled, physically impaired and functioning/high functioning autism. During the school year I am the reading specialist at Baltimore Urban Gardening with Students. BUGS is a non-profit after school enrichment program offered through Living Classrooms. I work closely with 2nd through 5th grade students in order to improve their reading skills. I also help students in their components where they garden, cook, dance and create crafts.
