Hi! My name is Katya Jafari and I am currently looking to help families have fun, be creative, and learn! A little about me: I grew up in Montgomery County, MD graduating from Gaithersburg HS in 2001 . In 2006 I recieved my B.S. from James Madison University in Kinesiology/Exercise Science, and am currently in nursing school at Montgomery College for my RN. I am a certified personal trainer/group exercise instructor through American Council on Exercise and work at NIH's fitness center part time. My experience with sitting/care taking is vast and extensive. I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew ( ages 6 , 5 and 2), and currently babysit on a weekly basis. In addition to babysitting for family and friends since 13 years old, I have been a soccer coach for 5 years for ages 5-15, camp councilor for Montgomery County Rec Department and City of Gaithersburg for Read more ages 5-10, teach sunday school at Unity Christ Church for ages 5-12, and aid in many volunteer organizations. As well, I was my grandmother's live-in caretaker for over a year until her passing in 2013 at the age of 96. I am certified through the American Red Cross for CPR/AED for healthcare professionals, first aid, and infant CPR/first aid. I as well hold my Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Maryland. My goal is to make every activity fun, even the dreaded tasks of cleaning/bedtime/homework. I have experience with all types of temperaments, ranging from extreme tantrums to autism, and if needed, enforce boundaries in an acceptable, calm manner. Most importantly, I strive to be a role model for kids, demonstrating patience, responsibility, kindness, creativity, and fun!
