Meet Shakeela

I am currently a college student at Towson University, I am a psych major there. I have experience in childcare and babysitting, during highschool I took part in child development where I taught and cared for preschool age children. Making lesson plans, organizing trips, preparing food for the children, playing with the children and many more tasks were apart of my experience with the course. I have experience babysitting babies, toddlers, and elementary school children. My responsiblities have included feeding, playing, entertaing, teaching and caring for children in these age groups. I also have taken educational courses during my first year of college, which included how to properly treat and care for children in and out of the classroom, how to care for children emotionally and physically. During my first year of college I also worked some hours at the daycare center on campus, I mainly cared for toddlers there. Read more I pride myself on being a good listener which I feel is very important in child care, often times children aren't listen to or their concerns aren't taken seriously, personally I put a lot of energy in listening and validating the emotions of children, I also believe in providing a safe and comfortable environment in which children can express themselves and have fun. I feel strongly about validating the emotions of children and allowing them to have fun and be safe. I have read and studied a lot on child development and gentle parenting which allows me to understand and calmly deal with children. While I am young my experience, education and personality has been a great mix when working with children and I truly do enjoy caring for children of all ages.
