Since the age of 14 I have dedicated 4 years as a camp counselor for elementary students. As a teen I baby sat 2 children in elementary school after school for a year. I am a recent AmeriCorps alum who served with the MFS Investment Management Team at the McCormack Middle School in Boston, MA for a national organization called City Year. I specifically worked in a 6th grade inclusion classroom applying strategies and providing support in improving attendance, behavior, and coursework with focus list students and whole - school support. During my time as an undergraduate student at Howard University, I have held numerous positions revolving around youth development. As the Volunteer Coordinator of Howard University's Jump start, I specifically created literacy events, handled logistics, and recruited/trained volunteers. I was a proud member of Jewels Inc. in which I served as a mentor and Program Director for girls ages Read more 8 - 18. I was a Resident Assistant in a female dormitory for 2 consecutive years. Additionally, I am a middle school inclusion intern where I provide support to children with learning disabilities here in D.C. Lastly, I am a graduate student in a Speech-language Pathology program which may be the only thing that I will commit to aside from being a caregiver. I have a few clients that I treat for my clinical practicum and a few classes this semester. I am looking for an opportunity to take up my weekends and any other gaps I have in my schedule outside from school. I am a jack of all trades and I am open to light cleaning, learning activities, errands, meal preparation, trips, and anything else to make the child and family more comfortable. I am not a pet owner however I am open to friendly pets. I also have a little sister who is 6 and have gained a lot of experience with taking care of her. I hope I am a fit ! (niecepalme@gmail.com)
