My name is Jessica! I'm 21 years old and just moved to Callaway with my husband who is stationed down here with the Coast Guard. I'm a junior at the University of Southern Maine, where I am finishing my degree online and studying Social and Behavioral Sciences with a minor in Early Childhood Studies. My past experience includes working as a behavioral health professional and a direct support professional. My job consisted of working with young adults and children with intellectual disabilities. I worked with them on basic life skills, as well as sets of goals that they helped come up with themselves. There is something so incredibly rewarding about seeing children learn, grow, and achieve their goals! I think you can probably tell that I love working with children. I always have, and I started babysitting at my church when I was 12 years old. I fully believe in reading to children and interacting with them instead of sitting them in front of a TV. As a child, I barely watched any TV and I believe that doing arts & crafts or reading is much more beneficial to a child than watching TV. When watching children, those are the types of things I like to do. I also love to take kids outside or to the beach. Anything that will keep them moving and active!
