My most extensive experience with young children was during a recent mission trip to the UK, in which one of my responsibilities was to help organize and oversee the kids club (for ages 3-10). This included designing activities (crafts, singing songs, story time), monitoring behavior, ensuring children's safety, and interacting with individual children to clarify lesson material etc. They were the actual real live cutest and so much fun to work with, even when there were the occasional tears and tantrums. I also worked with the youth group (ages 11-18) which I immensely enjoyed. I have volunteered also as a counselor for middle school aged children here in the states. This group sure had its challenges, but I so valued their zeal for life and constant questions. I was teaching them, but they taught me in return and I appreciated every insight they had to offer. I have done some Read more in-house babysitting for 2-5 year olds. I think my favorite part of working with that age group is finding all sorts of creative games and activities to do together, and learning as we do it. I speak both English and Spanish, and am currently studying Italian and German, so there is lots to be learned in that department especially. I am also a vocal performance major, which means singing (and teaching singing) is another one of my favorite pass times. I play piano as well and can provide lessons in voice, piano, music theory, music history, and general musicianship skills. My parents are divorced, so I have quite a bit of experience dealing with that particular difficult situation. I love dogs and animals of all sorts. I am happy to cook, clean, and or do some laundry if needed. I am also highly skilled at plant watering. :) I do not have much experience with infants, but I do love them and am eager and willing to learn to care for them in the best way possible.
