Hello, my name is Tiara. As a 27 year old woman, I'm looking to provide respite care in my own home for intellectually disabled youth or adults (female only, unless the child is under 12). I have done respite care in the past, and loved it (and so did my client, so much so that she got the state to ask me to become her legal guardian) but I really try to invest in the client during the period of respite. Taking walks together, baking, coloring, painting, reading to them, playing games...I really try to make it an enjoyable and memorable time for them, while they are in my care. I'm looking for a situation where I can provide respite for a period of 3 or 4 days a couple times a month. In VT I got paid through ARIS, I dont know how that works in ME. Over the Read more past 7 years, I have had experience working with youth and adults struggling with severe anxiety, schizophrenia, self-harm, higher- functioning autism, and more. I live with my family and have 6 siblings still at home. We live in the country, on a large piece of property. We also have a friendly, people-loving, Burmese Mountain dog.
