I have a 9 year old grandson whom I have babysit for since he was born. I was his total daycare provider from the time he was born until he started school. Since then he spends every Saturday (a sleepover) and most of his days off school with me. We cook, read & play together, and he likes to grocery shop with me. I have also spent a lot of time babysitting for a niece & nephew (now teenagers), doing the same kinds of things with them. I did a lot of babysitting as a teenager. I've always loved children. I was a Montessori preschool teacher for a number of years (1979-1984), and worked as an aide, then as an intern in the same school for several years prior to that. I did this until my own children started middle school, then took a leave of absence to be available Read more to them at home and for extracurricular after school activities. In 1987 I started my own interior decorating business. This was my full time work until my husband had a stroke which left him almost totally disabled at the end of 2007. I then became a full time caregiver until he passed away in 2011. I did some part time work in a consignment shop until about 6 weeks ago, when there was really not enough work to keep me employed there any longer. I do volunteer work twice a month as a facilitator for a caregiver support group in a program for adults with aphasia, a communicative disorder caused by stroke or other traumatic brain injuries. The hours you need would work well for me. I can be somewhat flexible as far as any additional time you might need. Light housekeeping is fine, as well as cooking - I am a good cook.
