I spent the last year living in Sierra Leone, West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. I taught high school students biology and chemistry, as well as, organizing 4 soccer teams for female students. While in Sierra Leone I discovered my passion for youth development and female empowerment. I always had students, soccer players, and neighborhood kids at my house reading books, asking questions, and cooking with me. My time in Sierra Leone gave me a year of practical experiences of child care.
