Hello! I'm currently a Junior at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana studying Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertising and a minor in Marketing. I'm originally from Arlington, Virginia and will be here the whole summer for an internship downtown that starts June 1st. The internship is full-time M-F from 9am-5:30 pm, but I am available weekday evenings after I get back from the city and all day on the weekends! I am comfortable with pets (have owned dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, hermit crabs), driving, and staying overnight/house-sitting on weekends! I also love to cook and bake and am comfortable with cleaning/housework. My experience amounts to about 10 years working with kids younger than me, in both paid and unpaid positions. I have always loved working with kids! When I was 10, I began working as a mother's helper for moms in my neighborhood, helping out around the Read more house and caring for the children while a parent was home. As I got older, I graduated to regular babysitting jobs with various different families in my neighborhood and still babysit on breaks from college. I was a Girl Scout for 12 years and also volunteered with child-care at my church growing up. As a Girl Scout, we often provided babysitting nights and mentored younger girls in the community. When I was 13, I began a volunteer (unpaid) Counselor In Training position at Camp Winkler in Alexandria, VA. When I was 16 and 17, I worked as a (paid) camp counselor at an all-girls sleep-away camp in Cape Cod, MA that I attended as a kid. During my freshman year at Indiana University, I was an elementary education major (before I changed my major to journalism) and during that time I took various classes on child development, child psychology, elementary school math, and more. I also volunteered regularly in a fifth grade classroom. I have always loved working with kids, and have experience working with kids of all ages! The age groups I have the most experience with, however, are from 5-16. In my personal life, I love to sing (I am in a collegiate all-female a cappella group), dance (danced/cheered in middle/high school), act (participated in theater camps growing up and school plays/musicals), work out, craft, read, swim, and much more. I played pretty much every sport growing up, too, so although I'm more the artistic type I'd have fun playing sports with your child(ren) or helping them practice their sports! I'm very easy-going and adaptable.
