Hello! My name is Ivory! I’m originally from Michigan but here in Oregon to pursue my Master’s at Portland State University. I often made extra money by babysitting for family and friends when I was in high school. That included entertaining them, feeding them, and making sure they did their school work and chores. I did this for many years and I’m happy to say that many of the kids I babysat have contacted me for advice about high school and starting college. For two summers, I volunteered with a youth poetry collective called City Wide Poets where I created poetry lessons and taught to middle and high school teens. Recently, for a marketing internship, I worked at the Verselandia! Youth Slam Championship where I helped manage, entertain, and calm the youth poets before, during, and after their performances at the event. I believe it does take a village to Read more raise a child and that’s why I love being able to be one of the many impactful people to help shape young people.
