As I got older I began to take care of neighbor’s and friend’s children as a part time job after school. When I started working as a cashier at a local market I would interact with kids that came through my lane because I truly enjoyed it and loved to make them laugh or feel included and heard. I had a customer ask if I would be interested in a part time job taking care of their child and I enthusiastically jumped on the chance. That child is now an adult in college and I am still part of their family to this day. I also have a younger cousin I grew up around who is blind and on the severe end of the autistic spectrum. I am a new auntie and helped with the birth of my nephew who came a month early. The youngest child I was employed to take care of was a month old and I have taken care of children up to 14 years old. I love to do arts and crafts, anything outdoors, especially swimming, riding my bike and kayaking , checking out museums and other cultural events, reading, writing, listening to music, cooking and cleaning. I enjoy teaching children and have a lot of patience with them. I have been CPR certified in the past and am willing to update my certification. My husband and I have a 9 month old puppy currently which is a lot of work and seems harder than taking care of children! I have helped to facilitate potty training, sleep training, bottle and pacifier weaning. I have studied child psychology for some of my more difficult challenges with the kids I have taken care of and have taken a few college courses in early childhood development. I am a truly passionate care giver and after a long time in regular job settings I am determined to make this my full time career.

Hi! my name is Mariah and I live in Rochester Hills. I am 24 years old and am a junior at the University Of Michigan. In the past ten years, I've been working as a substitute teacher in the Clarkston Area schools k-12 grades. I watched a two year old girl in Independence twp. Plus finished raising my own boys who are now 22 and 24 studying at the university level. My babysitting experience began at age 14, babysitting in Rochester Hills. My childcare education began at Holly Comunitee Ed through a state sponsored childcare program called Summer Kids which I worked at for three summers. I received a Bachelor's of Arts Degree from UM with additional classes at OCC in Criminal Justice and Psychology to work as a caseworker.
