Hi! My name is Lindsey. I grew up as the oldest of four, and the oldest of over twenty cousins. That means that for the past 24 years, I've been surrounded by kids... and I love it! It was only natural that over ten years ago I decided to start babysitting and working with children. Here's a timeline of my training and certifications over the past decade or so: High School (2008-2012) Babysat for 8 year old girl regularly for roughly a year Babysat two boys ages 3 and 5 off and on for a few months Often babysat for younger siblings (who at the time were between 2 and 13) Student taught 5th graders for two years and was honored to be their favorite teacher and their friend College (2012-2016) While in East Lansing, I had little time to spend babysitting while earning my degree. However, as a psychology Read more major, I did learn a lot about early childhood development (my mother's passion and area of study in undergrad, so I was familiar) though I did not specialize in it. 2016- 2017 I worked as a teacher for a five star preschool (Gretchen's House) right out of college for twelve children aged 0-3, where the child- teacher ratio was 4-1. I was trained using the HighScope curriculum, a widely respected early childhood model for kids 0-7 which assesses developmental milestones, prepares children for elementary school, teaches emotional regulation and problem solving, and creates an organized, structured classroom dynamic fostering happy, healthy, and engaged young children! They were my heart and while I don't miss the negative team I worked with, I miss them regularly. I was hired as the program director for a civic engagement/ service learning program very part time, where I got experience providing engaging activities for high school children as well I also became a certified crisis counselor! I carpooled 3 kids ages 9-13 weekly from school to other programs across town. This Year I babysit part time for three kids ages 1,3, and 4 along with up to 3 dogs! I cook, clean and put to bed as well. I have continued working with high schoolers and babysit for cousins on occasion. Feel free to ask me anything!
