Hello! My name is Sophie. I am a graduate student at Eastern Michigan University where I am studying occupational therapy. I have been a caregiver for 5+ years. I have provided care for both children as well as older adults in my community. Working as a caregiver, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of diagnoses within the pediatric and the geriatric world. My skills include: documentation,Evaluating and assessing, client care, creating activities, transfers, and relationship building. My goal is to always ensure safety as people of all ages engage in their everyday meaningful occupations in the least restrictive environment, while decreasing occupational deprivation. I am a big advocate for play based occupations as all children learn through play. Most of their developmental skills will be developed as they explore their environment through play.  Some personal information: I am African, specifically from Sierra Leone. I came to Read more the United States about 11 years ago and I have become accustomed to most things except the cold Michigan winters. Outside of work and school, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, cooking, and spending time with family, friends and my two fur babies (Echo and Lyric).  I am looking forward to providing your little ones the best care.
