Hello! My name is Aimee. I was born and raised in Alabama, but have spent the last 6.5 years here in Minnesota. I love painting, reading, and hiking (when it isn't too cold!). I am a student at Anoka Tech to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant. It is my wish to work with children with mental health and sensory integration disorders so they can live full and happy lives. This education will help me bring a therapeutic approach into the home so that we can play and maintain some structure. I have worked with children since I was 15 as a babysitter and in my church's nursery during high school, then as a Personal Care Attendant for children for 3 years, and finally as a Psychiatric Associate in a pediatric mental health unit for 3 more years. But even before I was paid, I grew up with many small cousins Read more and siblings that I helped care for. I have always loved children, and because I am willing to meet them where they are at, they usually love me back. I also love most fluffy animals, though most of my experience is with caring for cats and dogs- I am always willing to learn though! I have my Basic Life Saving certification that I renew every 2 years. I have also been trained in de-escalation techniques.
