Meet Kelsey

• Comfortable with pets

Unlike a lot of fresh college applicants, I had known my passion was for teaching and working with students as soon as I applied to college. When I graduated with my degree in K-12 Art Education in 2016, that never changed. Spending three months with Kindergarten through sixth graders was an exhilarating challenge, to be mentally prepared to go from a six year old to a ten year old in less than an hour. I spent several months with high schoolers as well, and when I visited a year later to chaperone for a field trip, I still recalled majority of their names and details. On weekends, my boyfriend's 7-year-old stays with us and there's a lot of time outdoors with slip and slides or plastic sword fights, downtime with Peter Rabbit for the third time that weekend, and insistence on not being hungry but devouring a PB&J (without crust) Read more when it's placed in front of him. There's it's own challenges, in being a relatively new face in the child's life, and still being seen as a figure of respect and authority, but we have been figuring it out together. I think a lot of the times, kids often want the same level of respect back as you're asking. A give and take sort of relationship. I have not had any recent paid babysitting experience since early high school, but I hope that my education and daily weekend life shows that I'm ready for anything!
