As a sophomore at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, majoring in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences with minors in Developmental Psychology and Leadership, my strengths and involvement experiences make me a strong candidate for this position. A successful sitter must possess strong communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills. Through my liberal arts education and through my role as a Diversity, Equity, an Inclusion officer for the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences association, I am developing excellent communication skills across academic and professional contexts. My Developmental Psychology coursework has taught me to use my critical thinking skills to understand the contexts in which we live in and how to effectively strive for better child-centered care, thus, my interest in being a sitter was sparked. Finally, I bring excellent relationship-building skills that will help me connect with children, families, and staff during my time volunteering. For example, I've used my skills developed in my Read more Leadership coursework and applied them to my role as a Personal Care Assistant, where I've built relationships with patients and communicate their goals to their families, making me an asset for this position.
