Hello! My name is Mende. Reasons why I enjoy being a sitter is because I genuinely love kids endless fountain of imagination and being a supportive figure to a child. When I spend time with kids, I make an attempt to into their perspective, be in their shoes and understand how/what they see so I can engage with them deeply. Being able to really understand their thought process I believe leads to more nourishing interactions and connectivity. I work for a non-profit mental health program in the cities so I have experience with varying degrees of mental illnesses however, something i've learned through my job is motivational persuasion skills and truly listening and validating individual experiences. My A.S in neuroscience has enabled me to become an exceptional employee. The psychology background has genuinely aided me on understanding peoples mindsets and how to actively listen in any conversation i'm in. Both Read more the experience with work and in school have taught me how to identify emotions and see what barriers there are. I've also had some great experience with de-escalation within an individual and/or a small group of people. Besides work, in the afternoons, I am also a youth group leader for a group of 8 boys at my church in Maple Grove. I do have a co-leader however, I am sometimes left alone with the boys. I've been with the same group of boys for 3 years now. Another experience with kids was a job i held for 4 years. I was a site-coordinator for a youth sports league. I was in charge of the safety of the children from strangers while also be an advocate for children's health on the field. When I was in my role I engaged with all the kids. When an injury occurred my first thought was the safety and health of the child; never the thought of winning a game. Some of my interests are playing flag football with friends, video games on Friday nights, learning new things through books and reading along with being a decent musician. A talent that surprises many people is that I am a VERY proficient cook.
