I have been babysitting for 15 years now. I've also been a nanny for 4 of the years. The first two years were with a family of 4 children, ages 14, 12, 10, and 7. While I watched them, I'd cook lunch, bring them to various activities, such as piano lessons and swimming classes. I'd also plan fun activities for them to be involved in. We'd go to the YMCA daily, go to the park, play games in their backyard, make crafts, and play board games. The second family I was a nanny for had two boys, ages 10 and 6. We would go to the neighborhood pool, ride bikes, and play any kind of sport outside. I would also do some light housecleaning. It mainly consisted of picking up after the boys and washing dishes. I've also worked at a daycare in Mankato, MN. During my time there, I Read more worked with non-mobile infants, mobile infants, and preschoolers. This job really helped me learn about children's development, ways to resolve preschoolers' arguments, the correct time to change infants' diapers, and to feed them (every 2 hours), and how to care for multiple children at a time. I also learned fun and creative ways to get kids to want to read and listen to lessons. I believe the main reason I am so passionate for caring for children is because I come from a big family. I have 5 siblings and also 45 cousins. Since I was 13 years old, I've babysat for my cousins and just enjoyed playing with all of my cousins at our cabin and family gatherings.
