Of course, my children are almost all grown up, having been a mother for 27 years. But I have vast experience outside of caring for my own children. I have been a babysitter from early on. My first job was when I was 13 for a neighbor taking care of their young child. I was their regular weekend babysitter. In fact, I was the neighborhood babysitter because people trusted me and I provided very good care. I would babysit for up to 3 kids in some instances. I've also previously owned an in home day care business for 5 years when my kids were growing up. I cared for infants and toddlers mainly, as well as my kids until they all were in school. We have also volunteered as part of the cleaning/serving crew for Wednesday church suppers for over 10 years where we interacted with people of all ages. I am also looking forward to my first grandchild to be born in the spring! For over 18 years I have been a full time legal secretary. I am currently unemployed and I have been wanting to take a turn in my career path, going back to happier times when I was caring for people (well, younger people), but I also am interested in doing non-medical senior care. I have over 8 years of experience caring for my father who had Alzheimer's. I provided daily care for him in his home for six years until he went into a nursing home. I provided cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, paid bills, organized, planned/cooked meals, doctor visits, pharmacy visits, medicine reminders and driving him to social/club meetings, as well as caring for my toddler and preschool children. I was also the main contact for my dad's care at the nursing home providing care information for staff, attending care meetings, keeping track of medications and doctor visits, and providing laundry services as well as visiting/companion care several times a week. I'm 51 years young, married (30 years!), friendly, patient, trustworthy, and caring. We live on a hobby farm with 2 dogs, 8 cats, 2 goats, 10 chickens, and 2 rabbits - as you can see, we love caring for animals too. At this stage in my life I want to start giving back and caring for people and be a happier person for it. Thank you for your consideration.
