I am a mother of 3 (all grown), I am a grandma and we have a 3 year old little angel, whose momma has a rough life. Her mom having 6 kids and single needed help. She got a job and asked me if I would babysit. I couldn't at the time so she got a baby sitter that was recommended by a couple people she knew. After a week she called me crying. She told me horrible things that was going on including abuse and neglect! Her newborn baby was bit in the head by the babysitter! I asked her when she worked next and began watching this precious baby. After a while the momma lost her job but we kept in touch. One night she needed me to pick her baby(6 mo) up from a bad situation. I did without hesitation. She asked if I could just keep Read more her through the night. It started off one day here, then a couple days . By the time she was a year and a half she was staying every night. She is a part of our lives and still in her mom's life. She is a happy beautiful little girl loved beyond belief!!! I don't have custody of her ( I wouldn't do that to her mom) , her mom still sees her, she just prefers to stay here and her mom sees that is what makes her happy so she allows her to live here. Life is good. I have always been told that I have the most patience with babies, toddlers, kids, that they have ever seen. I of course didn't realize babysitting children was something I SHOULD do until recently. I babysat since I was 12 years old. But I wouldn't consider that as an experienced babysitter...I got my experience when I started having children and working outside the home. That was when I had to figure out who was going to watch our babies .A talk show came on while I was still on maternity leave. "Baby-sitter Horror Stories" ,horrific abuse that I had to turn it off... my decision was made . I called my grandma. From that day on , if she couldn't watch my kids...they went with us either we didn't go. My grandma was too I'll to babysit by the time my son was born. HE NEVER LEFT MY SIDE! Sorry for the long intro but I want you to realize I know the stress it is picking a baby sitter and know that your child is safe with me. By safe I mean you don't have to worry that your child is being abused mentally nor physically. When a child does something they shouldn't , it is explained why it's wrong instead of spanking (sweeping under rug). I may be avail. to watch another child soon. A little girl I babysit (24 hrs 5 days a week/goes home wknds) is moving to Columbia.
