To tell you briefly about myself, I am a new graduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program (BBSP). After 5 years of working as a research technician both at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, MA) and Mt. Sinai Medical Center (New York, NY), I finally decided to return to school to earn my Ph.D. I recently moved to Carrboro last August and now that I have settled in, I am looking for part time babysitting opportunities. Specifically, I am available Friday and Saturday evenings, but I am also flexible on Saturdays and Sundays during the day. Generally, I work well with all ages and have babysat for as many as 3 kids at a time (any age range from 6 months-11yr).  To be frank, I love working with children. I am continually amazed by their unique personalities and creative imaginations.  I like to create a safe Read more and fun environment where they can freely play and be themselves.  At the same time, I like to keep them on their routine schedule so as not to disrupt their day-to-day activities.  I starting babysitting in my early teens and have served as an occasional sitter since 2009. In the past, I have also worked as a summer camp counselor, so I also have some experience working with young teenagers.  While in New York, I babysat for several families. For one family, I watched their 7yr and 9yr old daughters--although it was more fun that work. I would sit evenings or the occasional weekend during the day. While I mostly prepared dinner for them and assisted with bedtime, I generally acted as a big sister. We played games, danced to music, and played at the nearby park. For another family, I babysat their toddler and watched her grow for about 1.5 years. I came weekly and babysat in the evenings so her parents could run errands or have a night out. We played games and read stories before bedtime. Sometimes, I also helped with dinner too. I was sad to have to stop babysitting for both these families when I moved outside of NYC. Then most recently, I volunteered this January-February with the fourth graders at Brier Creek Elementary school to help them with their in-class science fair projects.
